MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — Brewton-Parker Christian University hosted the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions in a thrilling conference clash at Gillis Gymnasium on January 8, 2026. The Barons had a blistering night from beyond the arc and a decisive second-half surge to pull away from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural for a 79-66 win on Thursday night in Mount Vernon.
The Barons led 43-32 at the break and never trailed after the opening minutes, breaking the game open with a mid-second-half run that pushed the margin to 25 points. Brewton-Parker outscored ABAC 36-34 over the final 20 minutes, with its perimeter shooting and interior rim protection keeping the visitors at arm’s length despite a late push.
Jayden Hill spearheaded the attack with 21 points in just 23 minutes, knocking down 7 of 13 attempts from 3-point range and finishing 7-for-15 from the field. Hill’s long-range shooting helped ignite the Barons’ key run early in the second half, including a 3-pointer at the 17:15 mark that stretched the lead as Brewton-Parker began to pull away for good.
Forward Gil Gonzalez provided a strong two-way presence with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks. He set the tone early, burying an opening-half 3-pointer at 19:13 to nudge the Barons in front 3-2, and continued to control the glass as Brewton-Parker finished with a 38-30 rebounding advantage. Abraham Garjah also delivered in the backcourt, adding 11 points and a team-high five assists while shooting 4-for-7 from the floor.
Head Coach Leonard Epps shared his thoughts on the team's performance, saying, "It's never easy to get a win in our conference. I'm proud of how our team played today. We have some things we want to clean up, but it's always nice to go into the weekend games on a win streak. We will get ready to host Thoams on Saturday."
Brewton-Parker’s combination of efficient perimeter shooting, rebounding edge, and interior defense proved to be the difference in a matchup. With the victory, the Barons move to 12-3 on the year and 4-1 in conference play. They will return to the court on January 10, 2026, to host the Night Hawks of Thomas University in another SSAC clash.
