Barons Drop Doubleheader vs Knights

MOUNT VERNON, GA—On March 15, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Barons softball team hosted the Knights of Middle Georgia and dropped both games. The Barons battled in game one, falling just short in the seventh inning, 6-4, and were kept off the scoreboard in game two, falling 3-0. The Barons struggled to generate much offense in game two. In game one, the Barons saw some great offensive performances. The highlight came from Tori Wright, who scored two runs and crushed a home run in the 5th inning, energizing the team and crowd. Lexi Bradshaw and Cailyn Snellgrove also crossed the plate, contributing to the team's efforts. Nattalie O'Neal started as the pitcher for the Barons, facing a challenging Middle Georgia lineup, and struggled early, being replaced by Makayla Croft in the second inning. Croft did everything she could to keep the Barons in the game, but they could not take back the lead. Starting pitcher Peyton Dorn took the mound for Brewton-Parker in the second game of the day. Unfortunately, the Barons struggled at the plate, recording very few hits against a strong Middle Georgia State pitching and defensive performance. Head Coach Madison Herrin reflected on the series' outcome: " We competed well today but could not get the clutch hits. The girls played hard and had plenty of opportunities but could not capitalize. " Herrin remained confident in his team's ability to compete in conference and bounce back in the future. The Barons' next challenge is set for March 17, 2025, when they will face Indiana Tech in Melbourne, Florida. As they prepare for this upcoming game, they hold a season record of 9 wins, 12 losses, and one draw, with a 4-4 standing in conference games. The team remains focused on bouncing back and improving its record in the upcoming games.
