Barons Fall Short Against Wolf Pack in Doubleheader

In a challenging conference doubleheader, the Barons suffered two tough losses against the Loyola Wolf Pack, dropping game one 6-5 and game two 4-2. The games at Westwego, La. saw the Barons fight hard against their opponents but ultimately fall short. Brewton-Parker had several standout performances in game one that shone through the game. Marquette Gibson, Orlando Perez, and Dylan Speakman managed to cross the plate, contributing crucial runs for the team. The efforts of Jeremi Lara, who, along with Gibson—scoring two—and Perez, drove in the runs, were pivotal in keeping the Barons competitive throughout the contest. Brandon Russell started on the mound for Brewton-Parker, delivering a promising early-game performance underscored by a strong start with a run from Gibson. Marquette Gibson and Jeremi Lara delivered multiple hits as the game progressed, highlighting their offensive capabilities. Orlando Perez's critical pinch-hit also stood out as a key moment for the Barons. Despite their best efforts, the Barons could not stop the Wolf Pack. In game two, Kendell Wade and Jeremi Lara were the lone scorers for Brewton-Parker and contributed to the team's effort. Jeremi Lara notably shone during the game, hitting a home run and securing an RBI, leading to his impressive stats of going 2 for 4 at bat. Marquette Gibson also played a critical role, bringing in RBIs alongside Lara, which kept the team competitive throughout the contest. Dylan Speakman was the starting pitcher for game two, and his efforts were pivotal in holding the Wolf Pack. Despite the loss, the Barons had moments of brilliance, highlighted by Lara's home run that not only scored but also lifted team spirits during the game. Looking ahead, Brewton-Parker Barons are set to face Spartanburg Methodist College on April 11, 2025, in Spartanburg, SC. As they prepare for their next challenge, the team currently holds a record of 11-24 for the season. The Barons remain hopeful about turning their season around with the upcoming games.
