Barons Fall to #2 Crusaders

In a challenging conference soccer game held on October 2, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons faced off against William Carey University (Miss) at their home ground in Mount Vernon. The Barons' women's soccer team struggled to gain an upper hand, ending the first half with a disadvantage, as William Carey led 2-0 despite their best efforts. The Barons started the game with a stout defense, thanks to some incredible saves from Angel Camacho. The Barons managed to hold the Crusaders to two goals and were in the game going into the half. For Brewton-Parker, Mikayla Johnson had the team's only goal, but was unable to pivot the game's outcome, as an own goal by the Barons further compounded the challenges faced on the field. The final whistle marked a decisive 8-1 victory for William Carey. Head Coach Phillip Borde shared his thoughts on the team's performance. "Thank God for the opportunity. I think we defended really well for the majority of the first half and limited their chances. We made some errors, which led to the two goals we conceded. We had the two best chances of the first half, which demonstrates the team's intent and mindset. Our coaching staff has appreciated the team's mindset. These ladies are relentless. We thank God in the wins and the lessons." Despite this loss, the Barons look to regroup and focus on their upcoming fixture. They are set to play against the University of Mobile (Ala.) on October 4, 2025, once again at Mount Vernon, hoping to improve their current record of 3-6 and 1-3 in conference.
