Barons Fall to Toppers in Straight Sets
The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons fought valiantly but came up short against Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers at Gillis Gymnasium on September 26, 2025. The conference match concluded with the Barons dropping the match in straight sets, 0-3. The Barons struggled throughout the sets, concluding the first set at 18-25, followed by a consistent pattern in the next two sets, ending both at 20-25. This result extends the Barons' challenging season, bringing their current record to 2-11 and 0-6 in conference play. Key performances came from Taylor Lamontagne, leading the team with seven kills and nine digs and adding an ace to her stats. Amme Mobley and Na'Chelle Thomas also made significant contributions, with six and four kills, respectively. In terms of defense, Raphaela Felisberto was central, providing not only one block and one ace but also leading in assists with 19. Alana Garcia showcased her all-around capabilities by contributing two aces and the highest digs at 10. After the match, Head Coach Obed Quiles reflected on the team's performance, emphasizing the need for avoiding unforced errors, "We can't keep giving our opponents extra chances.
