Barons Kick-Off Season with Dominant Win Over Tigers
In a thrilling regular-season opener at Mount Vernon, Ga., the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons men's basketball team dominated the Voorhees University Tigers with a resounding 84-53 victory on October 27, 2025. The game kicked off with Brewton-Parker establishing an early lead, led by Abraham Garjah, who dominated at the free-throw line, going seven of nine. The offensive momentum continued as Xavier Gordon-Somers added to the team's advantage, adding 10 points to the stat sheet. Highlighting the first half, Trent Shelton boosted the score by netting a crucial three-pointer, leaving the first half score at 43-19 in favor of the Barons. Throughout the second half, the Barons maintained their dominance, with stellar performances from Trent Shelton and Tommy J Tisdale III, who combined for 29 points on the night. The Barons had a stellar defense, with notable efforts from Armani Reese, whose timely block contributed to key defensive stops. By the end of the second half, the Barons extended their lead to 37 points, finishing with a final score of 84-53.
