Ryan Feaster | Brewton-Parker Christian University | Aug 27, 2025

The Brewton-Parker Christian University women's soccer team secured a narrow victory against the Erskine College Flying Fleet in their home opener on August 27, 2025, in Mount Vernon. The final score was 1-0 in favor of the Barons, their first win of the season. The match started with strong defensive play from both teams, resulting in a scoreless tie throughout the first half. Despite multiple attempts to score, the halftime score remained 0-0, setting the stage for a decisive second half. The only goal of the day came from Sarah Owen, who scored for the Barons, breaking the deadlock and ultimately securing the win for her team. Owen's pivotal goal came in the latter half of the game, scoring on a free kick from a long way out. Angel Camacho was a brick wall for the Barons before having to leave the game due to a collision. Haley Mcelhannon replaced Camacho, and they combined for the shutout; Camacho made four crucial saves, keeping the Barons in the game before her early exit in the second half. Head Coach Phillip Borde shared his thoughts on the team's performance. "I thank God for the opportunity to begin another season. We have had a few games canceled, and I know the girls are eager to get back on the pitch. As always, the coaching staff is grateful for the hard-fought win and the efforts of everyone involved on and off the field. However, there is considerable room for improvement in various areas of the pitch. We will continue to work to improve in all those areas. In the meantime, we continue to give God thanks that we are to start the season in the win column." The next game for the Brewton-Parker Barons is scheduled for August 30, 2025, where they will face Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. With their current record standing at 1-0-0, the Barons are off to a promising start for the season.
