Brewton-Parker Track and Field Season Preview: New Beginnings Under Coach Tony Hawkins
As the indoor track season at Brewton-Parker College approaches, the Barons prepare to usher in a new era under the leadership of head coach Tony Hawkins. With the season kicking off on December 7th, 2024, at their home event, the Barons Invite, excitement builds for what promises to be a transformative season. Tony Hawkins takes the helm in his inaugural season as head coach, bringing fresh energy and a vision focused on excellence. "A fresh track, a clean slate, a new season to chase our best," remarked Coach Hawkins, expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead for his athletes to push their limits. The Barons will face a demanding schedule, with notable events set against the likes of Clark Atlanta, Georgia Southern, and Emory leading up to the highly anticipated SSAC Championship from April 24-26, followed by the NAIA Championships from May 27-29. These events are particularly significant as they represent not only high-stakes competition but also key opportunities for athlete development and achievement. The team faces the season with a mix of new faces and seasoned competitors. Notably absent due to graduation are Demario Thomas, Bradley Taylor, and Karen Garcia, leaving big shoes to fill. However, the squad is bolstered by the return of key senior athletes like Ashanti Surrey, Jaleah Rhett, Travis Massey, and Tysheem Denton, who are expected to lead the team with their experience and skill. A special highlight of the season includes senior Brandon Williams, who has qualified once again for the NAIA Marathon, marking a significant milestone for both him and the Brewton-Parker Track and Field team. The Barons' community looks forward to supporting Williams and the entire team as they strive for personal and collective success. As the Barons gear up for the start of the season, the spirit at Brewton-Parker is buoyant, fueled by the promise of new beginnings and the relentless pursuit of athletic and personal growth.
