Lady Barons Come Up Short Against Southeastern Fire

The Lady Barons lost a nail-biter to the Southeastern Fire by a score of 77-73 on December 31. Despite leading at halftime by 36-32, the Lady Barons were unable to maintain their momentum and fell to the Fire's tough defense late in the game. Destanee Wright led Brewton-Parker with an impressive performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Lady Barons also saw great performances from Jakayla Peeples, who scored 19 points, and Angel McRae, who dominated the boards with 10 rebounds. The game was a back-and-forth battle that ended with the Fire coming out on top. Head Coach Steve Edwards expressed both disappointment and resolve, stating, "We had a ton of opportunities to win the game late today. In winning time, we made costly mistakes. We've lost 4 close games in the last minute or so of each game. Our group has to be tougher mentally in those clutch moments. I have to do a better job of making sure we finish games better. We start back on conference play on Saturday. We will be ready to go." The Brewton-Parker Lady Barons look to bounce back from this disappointing loss by refocusing on conference play. The Lady Barons travel to Cochran, to take on the Knights of Middle Georgia State University.
