Brown Routs Fordham 85-5 Behind 13-Try Attack

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown men's rugby turned a strong first half into a runaway 85-5 victory over Fordham on Saturday, scoring five tries in the opening 12 1/2 minutes of the second half to put the match firmly out of reach. Brown finished with 13 tries and 10 conversions, piling up 57 points after halftime in a commanding home performance.
Marco Lapierre started the scoring at 4:40, crossing for the opening try before Tito Edjua added the conversion. Charm Tuala followed with a converted try at 15:45, and Erik Estienne touched down behind a lineout maul just over three minutes later to make it 21-0. Lapierre stepped his way through the Rams defence for his second try at 36:30, while Edjua's fourth conversion sent Brown into halftime with a 28-0 advantage.
Any hope of a Fordham response disappeared during Brown's decisive surge after the break. Edjua scored a try on Brown's first play of the second half at 41:00, Theo Romero followed at 44:30 and Inigo Langford added another at 47:30, which featured highlight contributions from Harry de Rosee and Patrick Minihane. St John St. John Smith crossed at 50:30 before Estienne completed the five-try burst with his brace of maul scores at 52:30, stretching the lead to 59-0. Brown's deft ball movement and steady pressure kept Fordham defending throughout the sequence.
Fordham scored its lone try at 56:30, off a carry from the back of a maul in close, but Brown answered through Romero, assisted by Wolfe Morn weaving through the defence for 50-meters at 64:00. Edjua converted that try and then crossed for his second at 67:00, to a cap a 2-phase team try, completing a 30-point individual performance. He finished with two tries and 10 conversions, providing both a scoring threat and remarkable consistency from the tee.
Brown's production came from across the lineup. Lapierre, Estienne and Romero each scored two tries, while Tuala and Langford contributed one apiece. Bryan Onwuka barreled through several would-be tacklers to add a converted try at 75:00, and Thomas Bouchard closed the scoring, finishing an Ittetsu Hoshi linebreak at 80:00. Edjua's 10th conversion supplied the final points in an 85-5 result that reflected Brown's sustained second-half pace.
The victory demonstrated the Bears' attacking prowess which they will carry into their first road match of the season. Brown will visit the Saints of Siena College on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at 2 p.m. EDT in Loudonville, NY, looking to build on a performance that featured nine try scorers and points from the opening minutes through the final whistle.
