Oilers Announce Weekly Schedule and Field Dedication

East Alton-Wood River Community High School has announced its weekly athletics schedule for March 23-28, highlighted by a neighborhood girls soccer rivalry, a rescheduled softball game, and a special baseball field dedication to a longtime coach.
The girls soccer team will travel to Norman Lewis Field at Roxana High School for a neighborhood rivalry matchup. The game features two nearby programs and is expected to draw strong support from both communities. Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm on Monday.
On Wednesday, the Oilers softball team will face Greenville in a rescheduled game at the renovated Leroy Emerick Field. The matchup was originally set for last Tuesday but was postponed due to temperatures in the 20s. The teams will now meet midweek to complete the contest.
Baseball will close out the week with a key home matchup on Friday against Bunker Hill at 4:30. The game will mark the opening of the home portion of the Oilers’ schedule and will include the formal dedication of the field to Norris Dorsey, the longtime and legendary baseball coach at East Alton-Wood River. Coach Dorsey plans to be in attendance for the dedication ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. Norris Dorsey Field is located at the Emerick Sports Complex on 6th St. in Wood River.
Students, families, and community members are encouraged to attend this week’s events to support Oiler athletics and take part in the celebration of Coach Dorsey’s contributions to the baseball program and EAWR as a whole.
