East Alton-Wood River split its competition with Bethalto #3 on Thursday in Cottage Hills, finishing on opposite sides of two team scores in a matchup played under clear skies and warm conditions. The Oilers fell 106-81 in one round but answered with a 91-76 result in the other, producing an even split on the day.

Dayton Bowling turned in the top performance for East Alton-Wood River, posting rounds of 19 and 23. His second-round 23 helped pace the Oilers in the stronger of the two team efforts and gave the lineup a steady high mark as the competition unfolded.

Adam Prickett added rounds of 17 and 14, while Colton Kramer finished with scores of 14 and 17. Together, those three shooters supplied much of the Oilers' production across both rounds. The balance between the first and second set of scores reflected the split nature of the event, with East Alton-Wood River improving its overall output in the round it won.

The matchup was held at Cottage Hills, with temperatures reaching the low 80s and a 12 mph wind present during the competition. In a sport where conditions can influence consistency from station to station, the Oilers showed resilience by regrouping after the 106-81 loss and responding with a 91-76 win against the same opponent grouping.

With no single turning point provided, the clearest story from Thursday's meet was the Oilers' ability to recover between rounds and get standout work from Bowling, supported by Prickett and Kramer. East Alton-Wood River came away with a split result, and the second-round response offered a solid finish for the varsity coed squad. The Oilers are now 6-4 on the season and tied for 2nd place in the league.
