Celebrate the Positive With "Dogie Way Shoutouts" This Year

Starting this fall, we at Newcastle High School are launching Dogie Way Shoutouts to celebrate the positive actions you witness at our sports and activities events. Look for “Dogie Way Shoutout” QR codes during all competitions and help us recognize the people putting those values into action.

Too often in sports and life, we dwell on the negatives. Our sports and activities are an extension of life, and this year we’re choosing to highlight what athletes, coaches, officials, spectators and opponents do well. Your shoutout can bring attention to a positive moment that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The fall sports form covers NHS football, volleyball, cross country, golf and girls swimming and diving, along with NMS volleyball, football and cross country. Whether you’re cheering at a high school or middle school athletic event, we want you to notice specific, intentional actions that demonstrate the Dogie Way.

When you submit a shoutout, describe what you witnessed, identify who demonstrated the Dogie Way and select the value their action reflected: respect, integrity, positive attitude, sportsmanship, positive competitiveness, leadership, teamwork, honesty, energy or compassion. You may name a specific person for recognition and indicate whether your submission can be shared on social media. Please note that respondents’ first names may be used in social media shoutouts.
