Dogies Finish Third in Silver Bracket After 2-0 Sweep of Pinedale

Newcastle High School secured third place in the Silver Bracket by closing its six-match run at the Rawlins Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Pinedale in Rawlins. The Dogies won the final match 21-19, 21-16, finishing the tournament with two victories, three losses and one split result.

Newcastle opened against Lovell, falling 21-13, 21-20. The Dogies responded to an eight-point loss in the first set by pushing Lovell to a one-point margin in the second. Adalyn Olson led the attack with six kills, one ace and nine digs, while Kyndal Von Eye distributed 10 assists. Lillie Morrill added four kills and eight digs, Brystal Sweet collected seven digs, and Aspyn Archer contributed two kills and a block assist. Newcastle finished the match with 14 kills, 14 assists and 37 digs.

Glenrock defeated Newcastle 21-13, 21-14 in the second match. The Dogies totaled 33 digs and eight kills, with Von Eye recording eight assists and five digs. Morrill delivered two kills, an ace, a solo block and five digs. Olson and Sweet each made six digs, while Kaia Pederson added two kills and five digs. Newcastle then earned a 1-1 split against Pinedale, rebounding from a 21-18 opening-set loss to take the second set 21-20. Anika Oleson powered that response with four kills, one solo block and two block assists. Sweet had an ace and a team-high seven digs, and Von Eye supplied seven assists as the Dogies recorded four aces and six total blocks.

The Dogies broke through with a 2-0 win over Rawlins in two tight sets, 22-21 and 21-19. Newcastle produced its strongest offensive showing of the tournament with 22 kills and 22 assists, while its defense accumulated 51 digs. Olson led the attack with eight kills and added an ace, a solo block and eight digs. Von Eye directed the offense with 21 assists and nine digs, Morrill finished with seven kills and a team-high 10 digs, and Oleson added five kills. Sweet contributed an ace and seven digs.

Tongue River stopped Newcastle 21-18, 21-10 in the fifth match. The Dogies stayed within three points throughout the opening set before Tongue River pulled away in the second. Newcastle remained active at the net with two solo blocks and six block assists. Olson had four kills, one solo block, two block assists and five digs. Von Eye recorded nine assists, one kill and two total blocks, while Morrill added two kills, two block assists and six digs. Oleson chipped in three kills and a block assist.

Newcastle answered in the Silver Bracket finale by beating Pinedale for the second time in set play, taking the opening set 21-19 before creating more separation in a 21-16 second-set win. The Dogies finished with 16 kills, four aces, seven total blocks and 50 digs. Von Eye recorded 12 assists, two kills, two block assists and eight digs. Olson supplied four kills, two aces, one solo block, one block assist and 11 digs, while Morrill anchored the back row with 17 digs and an ace. Oleson added four kills and two block assists, and Jenna served an ace and made seven digs. The third-place finish completed Newcastle’s Silver Bracket run, and the Dogies will return home to face Rawlins at 6 p.m. MDT Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026.
