Forge Grapplers Crown Individual Champion!

The Boy's Wrestling Team competed in the Al Pinter Memorial Tournament held at Cuyahoga Hts. high school. The team placed 10th out of 19 teams at this weekend’s tournament. While the finish was respectable, only six wrestlers contributed to the team score, which impacted the overall standings. The team anticipates increased depth as more weight classes are filled later in the season. Individually, several wrestlers earned top finishes. Junior Juan Ruiz placed 5th in his weight class, and Senior Nate Hale earned a 4th-place finish after a strong performance throughout the tournament. Junior Amir Abukhalil highlighted the event by winning his weight class, becoming the team’s first tournament champion of the season. The team will continue preparing for upcoming competitions as the season progresses. “This tournament gave us a good look at where we are early in the season and what we need to improve on,” said Head Coach Chris Finowski. “We will have a few guys coming back in the lineup, we will be a different team come January! We are headed in the right direction!”. The program would like to thank all the parents and VF wrestling fans who attended the tournament and supported the team despite challenging weather conditions.
