Valley Forge girls win Midview Shipwreck Invitational behind Nevaeh Hall's MVP day
GRAFTON, Ohio - Valley Forge's girls team claimed first place Friday at the Midview Shipwreck Invitational, finishing with 102 points to edge Buckeye's 96 and Padua's 90. North Olmsted placed fourth with 83 points, and Vermilion rounded out the top five with 78. The Patriots were led by another dominant meet from Nevaeh Hall, who earned meet MVP honors after helping power Valley Forge to the team title.
Hall delivered one of the day's most complete performances. She won the 100-meter dash and set a new meet record in the event, added another title in the 200, and also captured the long jump. She was also part of Valley Forge's runner-up 4x200-meter relay team with Lily Fale, Delaney Kercher and Jocelyn Marflak. It marked Hall's second MVP honor of the season after also being named MVP at the Bill Dodd Invitational.
The Patriots added more event victories across the lineup. Jay Jones won the 100 hurdles and finished third in the 300 hurdles, while Delaney Kercher took first in the high jump, placed third in the long jump and added a fourth-place finish in the 400. Valley Forge also got field-event points from Brooke Miljus-Byrnes, who was fourth in pole vault, and Addison Struck, who placed fifth in the same event.
The distance group and relays helped secure the girls championship. Madelynn Bronczek placed sixth in the 1600 and seventh in the 800, Sabrina Attab was seventh in the 3200, and Kara Barnett finished seventh in discus. In relays, the 4x200 team of Fale, Kercher, Marflak and Hall took second, the 4x400 team of Jones, Bronczek, Brianna Carroll and Struck placed fifth, the 4x800 team of Amanda Akers, Madelynn Bronczek, Miley Stemm and Attab finished sixth, and the 4x100 team of Struck, Fale, Marflak and Sanaa Mooney took eighth. Addison Abrams added a seventh-place finish in the 100 hurdles.
Valley Forge's boys team finished seventh out of 12 teams and was led by Matt Novak, who won the 300 hurdles. Nicolas Gonzalez Aviles added a fifth-place finish in the 400, Nathan Olsen was sixth in discus, Ewan Bak-Meyer placed sixth in the 3200, and Wyatt Balina was seventh in pole vault. Benny Landamo scored in two events with an eighth-place finish in the long jump and another eighth in the 200, while Chance Harvey placed eighth in the 100.
The boys relays also contributed key points. Valley Forge's 4x200 team of Adonis Shider, Novak, Yair Ruiz Vasquez and Landamo finished fourth. The 4x400 group of Jeremiah Anderson, Novak, Ruiz Vasquez and Belvin Zerby took fifth, and the 4x100 relay of Harvey, Zerby, Kyler Miller and Landamo placed seventh. With Hall's record-setting sprint double and the girls team title highlighting the day, Valley Forge left Grafton with one of its strongest all-around meets of the season.
