Warner Royals Fall to St. Thomas in SUN Conference Soccer Clash
In a challenging SUN Conference encounter on October 16, 2024, at Miami Gardens, Fla. (AutoNation Field), the Warner Royals faced a tough defeat against the St. Thomas Bobcats, with a final score of 0-10. The Warner Men's Soccer team, under the mascot of the Royals, couldn't overcome the potent attack of their opponents, ending the game without securing any goals.
From the very start, St. Thomas showed their dominance by taking a commanding lead early in the game, with the halftime score already at 8-0 in favor of the Bobcats. Hernando Suarez and Tim Kreuzpeinter were particularly formidable, scoring two goals each for St. Thomas. Other contributors to the Bobcats' win included Francisco Tolaba, Lorenzo DiMercurio, and Hugo Rego, with Rego scoring from a penalty. Angelo Bernandes not only provided an assist but also netted the game's first and ultimately winning goal for St. Thomas, setting the tone for their overwhelming victory.
Warner's efforts were spearheaded by goalie Wesley Lacy, who started the game before Gustavo Infante took over in the second half. Despite their efforts, the goal remained elusive except for a single promising shot on goal by Joseph Street, which unfortunately did not translate into a score for the Royals.
The Royals look forward to a chance at redemption in their next game scheduled for October 19, 2024, against SCAD-Savannah in Hardeeville, SC. The team remains hopeful and focused on bouncing back with a stronger performance in their upcoming confrontation.
