Warner University Lacrosse Suffers Narrow Defeat to Tennessee Wesleyan

In a gripping regular season encounter, the Warner University Royals faced a tough loss against the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs with a final score of 9-10 on February 23, 2025, at the TWU Athletic Complex in Athens, Tenn. Despite a strong performance from the Royals, Tennessee Wesleyan captured the win in the final moments of the game.

Warner University, led by Bailey Dykes' outstanding three-goal outing, showed resilience and skill throughout the match. Dykes also provided one assist, contributing significantly to the team's offense. Alongside Dykes, Anaya Lister and Abigail Petrillo each netted two goals, while Bailey Lightsey and Natalie Frisanco added one each, with Lightsey also recording an assist. Collectively, the team demonstrated cohesive play, challenging the Bulldogs at every turn.

The game took a dramatic turn when Kate Buchanan of Tennessee Wesleyan scored the decisive goal with just 34 seconds remaining in the 5th period. It was a heartbreaking moment for Warner as they watched their near victory slip away. In the net for the Royals, Krisandra Ford, Kaylin Brown, and Noralee Sprague shared responsibilities, each playing a crucial role throughout the contest.

Looking ahead, the Royals are set to face the Montreat Cavaliers in Montreat, NC, on February 28, 2025. With a current season record of 2-2, Warner University aims to regroup and capture a much-needed victory in their forthcoming game against Montreat. The team remains optimistic about refining their strategies and performance to bounce back stronger for the rest of the season.
