Warner University Royals Face Tough Loss Against St. Thomas Bobcats in SUN Conference Soccer Clash

WARNER SID | Warner University | Apr 8, 2025

In a challenging SUN Conference soccer outing at Warner University on October 19, 2024, the Warner Royals women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 defeat to the St. Thomas Bobcats. Despite the home crowd's spirited support, the Bobcats seized control early on and never relented, leading the match at halftime with a score of 1-0 and closing with a decisive four-goal victory.

The Royals faced a formidable offense from St. Thomas, with players Emily Rodriguez, Megan Velazquez, Emily Sepulveda, and Dayanara Monetti each finding the back of the net. Rodriguez's early goal set the pace for the Bobcats, ultimately proving to be the game-winning strike. Assists from Yasmeen McFayden and Andrea Nava helped solidify the Bobcats' command over the game.

Warner's goalie, Martina Duque, faced an onslaught of attempts from St. Thomas, who showcased their strength and coordination throughout the match. The Royals, unable to breach the Bobcats' defense, will take this game as a learning experience as they look ahead.

Despite the setback, the focus is now on recovery and preparation for the next challenge. The Warner Royals are set to face the Florida Memorial Lions in Miami Gardens, FL, on October 23, 2024. With their current record standing at 3-7-1, and 0-7 in conference play, the Royals are motivated to turn their season around with an improved performance in their upcoming games.
