In a heated SUN Conference basketball showdown at Coffin Gymnasium on January 25, 2025, the Warner University Royals succumbed to a hard-fought defeat against the Coastal Georgia Mariners with a final score of 99-91. Despite a tenacious effort, the Royals, represented by their men's team, couldn't overcome the Mariners' sharpshooting and strategic plays.

From the onset, the Royals showed promise with Jamal Norris opening the scoring with a swift 3-pointer. Blaize Darling topped the scoreboard for Warner with an impressive 20 points, tying with two steals alongside Norris, who also added two 3-pointers to his 17 point tally. The teamwork was evident as Joshua Glesil and Darling both provided crucial assists, each contributing three assists to try and keep Warner in the game.

The first period ended with Coastal Georgia leading 40-31, after which they further stretched their lead in the second half, thanks to consistent offensive efforts. Jeremiah Camara and Kaden McArthur of Coastal Georgia played pivotal roles in their team’s extended lead. Warner’s defensive efforts saw Bryson Castillo and Glesil each grabbing 2 rebounds, while Norris led the steals alongside Darling.

Despite Warner's challenging play, Coastal Georgia maintained their lead, demonstrating efficient offensive maneuvers and robust defense which left the Royals trailing at the final whistle. Warner's coach acknowledged the tough competition, commending his team's resilience and the standout performances from players like Darling and Norris.

With this game moving Warner to an 8-11 record, the Royals look to rebound in their upcoming match against the Florida Memorial Lions on January 29 at Turner Athletic Center in Lake Wales, FL. Warner fans remain hopeful for a resurgence as their team prepares to take on this new challenge.
