Warner University Royals Fall to St. Thomas Bobcats in Recent SUN Conference Face-off
In a challenging SUN Conference face-off on November 16, 2024, Warner University Royals were overtaken by the St. Thomas Bobcats with a final score of 60-32 at the AutoNation Field in Miami Gardens, Fla. Despite playing under partly cloudy skies, the Royals could not secure victory and their season record falls to 0-8.
St. Thomas dominated both halves, entering the break with a 32-18 lead. Key performances from St. Thomas included Shane Hamm, who not only returned a failed PAT for a score but also threw for three touchdowns. His efforts were complemented by Rontavious Farm, who marked the scoreboard with multiple rushing touchdowns, proving crucial for the Bobcats' dominant performance. The Royals had multiple contributors with Cameron Miller, Hazaia Phillips, Evan Saifman, and De'Andre Head each scoring touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to tilt the scale in their favor.
The Royals' defense saw notable plays from Lonnel McCall and Elijah Perry, each bringing robust defensive strategies to the field. McCall recorded 6 solo tackles, and Perry added another 6 tackles, including a tackle for loss. On special teams, Shane Hamm's unexpected PAT return for 2 points and Cameron Miller’s significant return added some highlights for Warner University.
While the day was marked by strong individual performances and strategic plays, the Royals' continued struggle to notch a win this season remains a growing concern. Warner University will look to regroup and focus on their upcoming engagements, aiming to turn their season around.
