Warner University Royals Sweep Ave Maria in SUN Conference Volleyball Showdown

On September 21, 2024, the Warner University Royals women's volleyball team showcased their dominance in a decisive 3-0 victory against the Ave Maria Gyrenes at the Turner Athletic Center. This win not only highlighted the Royals' prowess in the SUN Conference but also demonstrated their strategic gameplay and teamwork.

In the opening set, the Royals set the tone early, securing a 25-19 victory. This was mirrored in the second set with an identical score, keeping the pressure firmly on the Gyrenes. The third and final set saw a slightly tighter contest, but Warner still managed a 25-20 win, completing the sweep and solidifying their triumph.

The Royals' victory was driven by standout performances from several players. Leah Cooley led the team with 9 kills, followed closely by Leonelis Lopez and Sofia Suarez, each contributing 8 kills. Suarez also led the team with 4 blocks, showing her versatility, while Imar Laboy not only added 3 blocks but also led in assists (9) and aces (2), showcasing her all-around skills. Digs were another area of strength, with Evaisabel Morales recording 6 and Ashlyn Fassnacht contributing 2.

The key moments of the match were marked by Warner University's consistent control over the game, as they took decisive wins in all three sets. This victory improves their season record to 6 wins and 7 losses.

Looking forward, the Royals will travel to Sarasota, FL, for their next SUN Conference encounter against the New College Banyans on September 25, 2024, where they aim to build on their current momentum and climb further up the conference standings.
