Warner Women's Basketball Narrowly Defeated by Webber International

In a thrilling SUN Conference showdown at Jessica Costanzo Court, the Warner University Royals faced off against the Webber International Warriors on February 22, 2025. Despite a hard-fought battle and outstanding performances, the Warner Royals were edged out with a final score of 85-82.

The game began with both teams displaying strong offensive skills, ending the first period in a tie at 23 points each. Warner struggled slightly in the second period, trailing Webber International by four points at halftime, with the score at 48-44. The match intensity carried into the third period, where Warner continued to fight back, reducing the gap to just two points by the end of the period, the score standing at 62-60.

Bethany Howard led the scoring for Warner with 16 points including two crucial three-pointers while also dominating the boards with 12 rebounds. Courtney Logan contributed significantly with 15 points and led the assists with nine, proving her all-around game prowess. Julia Gilbert also shone brightly with 15 points and rounded out her performance with 10 rebounds.

Despite Warner's aggressive play and multiple comeback attempts, Webber International managed to maintain the lead, thanks in part to Neri Moreau's game-high 24 points. The final period was a nail-biter as both teams exchanged leads. Julia Gilbert's late three-pointer brought Warner close, but Webber International ultimately secured the win.

Warner University Women's Basketball will next face St. Thomas on February 25, 2025, in Miami Gardens, FL. The Royals will aim to improve their current season record of 9 wins and 17 losses. The team is hopeful for a victory in their upcoming game to regain momentum in the SUN Conference standings.
