North Georgia opened with the doubles point and followed with three straight singles victories to defeat No. 12 Lenoir-Rhyne 4-1 on Friday in a postseason tennis matchup that began at 1 p.m. EDT. The result was built on a balanced effort, led by singles wins from Anastasiia Opolska, Emily Bush and Victoria Niox-Chateau.
The early edge came in doubles, where North Georgia won two of the three flights to take a 1-0 lead. Anastasiia Opolska and Olesya Anastasiia Opolska / Olesya Stokusova; Victoria Niox-Chateau / Sofia Giraldo delivered a decisive 6-1 win, while Victoria Niox-Chateau and Sofia Giraldo secured the point with a 7-6 victory. The lone doubles setback came at the remaining position, but North Georgia had already established the tone of the match by claiming the opening team point.
That momentum carried into singles. At No. 1 singles, Anastasiia Opolska produced one of the key performances of the afternoon with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Runa Muderrisoglu. The straight-set result gave North Georgia an important point near the top of the lineup and capped a strong day for Anastasiia Opolska, who also contributed to the doubles point.
Emily Bush added perhaps the most dominant singles showing of the match at No. 5, rolling to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mehetia Boosie. Victoria Niox-Chateau then completed another strong all-around performance at No. 6 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Enrica Favaron after also helping clinch doubles. Between them, Anastasiia Opolska and Victoria Niox-Chateau were involved in all four team points, giving North Georgia the production it needed across both phases of the match.
Lenoir-Rhyne avoided the sweep when Nellie Wahlberg earned its only point with a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 3 singles over Sofia Giraldo. Two other singles flights, at No. 2 and No. 4, were listed as no result once the team decision had been secured. By that point, North Georgia had already done the work, taking control in doubles and finishing efficiently in singles to close out the 4-1 win.
