Wayne State Overwhelms T-No. 22 Ferris State 72-33
Wayne State earned a commanding GLIAC victory Thursday, Feb. 27, defeating Ferris State, tied for No. 22, by a 72-33 final. The Warriors’ 39-point win over a ranked conference opponent highlighted a decisive night for the program.
The Warriors more than doubled Ferris State’s scoring total while holding the visitors to 33 points. Wayne State’s ability to create such a wide separation made the team’s defensive performance central to the outcome, with Ferris State unable to generate enough offense to keep pace.
Wayne State complemented that defensive showing by reaching 72 points, producing the balance needed to turn the GLIAC contest into a one-sided result. The final margin was especially notable because it came against a Ferris State team carrying a national ranking into the matchup.
The game also served as Wayne State’s Fan Appreciation contest. The Warriors marked the occasion by delivering a complete team result and securing a conference win in convincing fashion.
With no individual statistics available, the final score provided the clearest measure of Wayne State’s performance. The Warriors finished 39 points ahead of Ferris State, combining their 72-point offensive output with their lowest possible opponent total reflected in the result, a 33-point showing by the visitors.
