DETROIT, Mich. - Wayne State University loses to Hillsdale
Carrico caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Boyce with 9:36 left in the third quarter for a 35-0 lead. Carrico finished with five receptions for 111 yards and three touchdowns, plus 47 rushing yards. Avery Holt, who rushed for 56 yards, added a 3-yard touchdown run at 1:43 to make it 42-0. Hawk Hasselman completed the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run with 6:02 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Wayne State’s defense could not force a turnover as Hillsdale accumulated 621 yards, including 351 rushing and 270 passing. The Warriors finished with 194 total yards and 11 first downs to the Chargers’ 36. Wayne State also lost a fumble, giving the Warriors two turnovers.
The Warriors converted 3-of-12 third downs and held possession for 24:47, while Hillsdale went 5-of-9 on third down and controlled the ball for 35:13. Wayne State will look to bounce back in its next contest against Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, Sept. 19.
