Baraboo Girls Tennis Clinch Convincing Victory Over Reedsburg
The Baraboo Girls Tennis team scored a resounding 7-0 win against the Reedsburg Beavers during their conference crossover match in Reedsburg on August 21, 2025. The Thunderbirds dominated across both singles and doubles matches. In standout singles performances, #1 Leah Kierzek secured her 30th varsity career win with scores of 6-3 and 6-1. Gigi Heiner, playing at #2 singles, breezed through her sets with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory. #3 singles saw Grace Atwater battle through a tight first set 6-4, then dominate the second set 6-0. The #4 singles spot was held by Michelle Barahona, who came back in a thrilling tie break to win 11-9 after splitting her initial sets 6-3, 4-6, sealing the overall victory for the Thunderbirds. In doubles, the #1 team of Willa Scanlan and Mallory Olson won their match by 6-1, 6-3. The #2 doubles team, Lauren Jauch and Layla Puttkamer, echoed this success with a win of 6-2, 6-0. The #3 doubles pair, Ava Ruefer and Makenna Mann, secured a close first set at 7-5 and smoothly took the second set 6-2. With this victory, the Baraboo Thunderbirds improve their season record to 3-0. The team looks forward to their next challenge against Waunakee at Baraboo High School on August 26, 2025.
