Baraboo Girls Tennis Secures Victory Against Milton
The Thunderbirds showcased a strong performance in their conference match against the Milton Red Hawks on September 4, 2025, at BHS, concluding the day with a commendable 5-2 win. This triumph mirrors their seasonal record, also standing at 5-2. In singles, the girls demonstrated great resilience. Notably, Gigi Heiner achieved a decisive victory in the #2 singles match with scores of 6-4, 6-1. Michelle Barahona followed suit, winning her #4 singles match 6-4, 6-4. Although there were challenging moments, such as #1 Leah Kierzek’s narrow defeat after a match tiebreaker, the team's overall singles performance was strong. The doubles teams contributed significantly to Baraboo's victory. The #1 duo, Mallory Olson and Willa Scanlan, displayed excellent teamwork, winning 6-3, 6-2. Both the #2 team of Lauren Jauch and Layla Puttkamer and the #3 team of Ava Ruefer and Makenna Mann echoed this success in their respective matches with scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1. Reflecting on the JV outcomes, the team performed commendably, winning 6 out of their 9 matches, with 3 singles victories and 3 doubles victories. Looking ahead, varsity will continue their competitive season on September 6 at Portage High School, facing off against Viroqua, Columbus, and Portage on September 6th.
