Baraboo High School Boys' Golf Team Finishes 8th at MG Invitational

On April 17, 2025, the Baraboo High School Boys' Varsity Golf Team faced challenging conditions at The Oaks Golf Course during the Monona Grove Invitational Tournament against various Badger Conference teams, as well as teams from Madison and Milwaukee. Despite the chilly weather and windy conditions, the Thunderbirds secured an 8th place finish with a total team score of 326. Individual performances were a highlight for the Thunderbirds, with standout rounds from sophomores and juniors. Jack Brinker, a sophomore, shined with a personal best score of 74, which included several birdies. This remarkable performance placed him tied for 5th overall. Meanwhile, Junior Jon Moon started his round exceptionally, shooting 3 under par with a 33 over the first nine holes, finishing the day with a score of 75 and tying for 8th overall. Freshmen made their mark as well, with Cooper Jauch scoring 87 and Will Stelling 93 in their debut. Ace Funmaker completed the day with a score of 90. Head Coach Landon Brownell praised the team, "Today was a great performance for our program with one of the lower team scores we've had in the past few seasons." He further noted the advanced skill levels of the players, particularly praising their physical and mental game improvements. The team's efforts were acknowledged by significant moments such as Moon's impressive start and Brinker's steady play contributing crucially to their high standings individually and as a team. Overall, the day was marked by personal achievements and promising performances from the team's younger players, setting a positive trajectory for the future of Baraboo High School's golf program.
