Baraboo High School Thunder Thrower Competes at Division 1 Girls Shot Put WIAA State Championships
On June 7, 2025, Lily Rogers, a sophomore from Baraboo High School, competed in the Division 1 Girls Shot Put event at the WIAA State Championships held at Roger Harring Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Despite the challenging conditions, with wet and rainy weather making the circle slick, Lily managed to capture 15th place, proudly representing the Thunderbirds alongside the support of her family, friends and coaches. Lily's journey to the state meet was notable, especially considering her comeback from a shoulder injury that affected her season. The event attracted top talent from Division 1 schools across Wisconsin, setting a competitive stage for all participants. Although Lily did not reach the finals or achieve a podium finish this year, her performance was a testament to her determination and perseverance. Looking forward, Lily and her team are optimistic about the next season. They plan to use the off-season for intensive training to prepare for a stronger comeback in the upcoming year. The support from her family, friends, coaches, and the Baraboo community remains a vital part of her athletic career, as evidenced by the enthusiastic cheers and encouragement she received leading up to and during the competition.
