Baraboo High School Thunderbirds Sang a Tie in Tuesday's Varsity Match

The Baraboo High School Thunderbirds squared off against the Lodi Blue Devils in a closely contested soccer match on May 27, 2025, on Flambeau Field at Beryl Neuman Stadium. Despite rigorous competition and tactical gameplay, the match concluded in a 1-1 draw. The first half saw both teams defending robustly under partly cloudy skies, with the temperature a comfortable 66 degrees. Neither team managed to alter the scoreboard, entering halftime at a deadlock of 0-0. In the second half, the intensity escalated. Kennedy Klongland managed to put the Thunderbirds ahead with a goal, delivered from a direct free kick. This display of skill was a high point for Baraboo. However, the Blue Devils countered later, bringing the final score to a tie at 1-1. Leah Hess, Baraboo's goalie, was instrumental in defending the goal, showcasing her skills by thwarting several potent attacks from Lodi. The Thunderbirds' coach, Tyler Lang, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, noting their 'collective effort, intensity, and communication.' While they hoped for a win, the hard-fought tie provided a valuable momentum as they head into their postseason games. Looking forward, Baraboo High School will face Reedsburg on June 2, 2025, in Reedsburg, aiming to build on their current record of 4-13-1.
