Baraboo JV Thunderbirds Secure a Convincing Victory Over Reedsburg Beavers
The Baraboo High School girls' JV soccer team clinched a decisive 3-0 win over the Reedsburg Beavers on April 22, 2025, at Flambeau Field. Led by standout player Reese Manke, who notched an impressive hat trick, the Thunderbirds showed their dominance in this regular season conference clash. The first half was a tight affair with Baraboo taking a slight edge, leading 1-0 at halftime. However, the second half saw the Thunderbirds pulling away thanks to their strategic gameplay, which was adjusted during the halftime break. Coach Grace Schell praised the team's performance, saying, "We started without heat and low numbers but 2nd half, the girls went in with the mindset to fix what was discussed at halftime, and were able to clinch the rival win." Reese Manke's offensive prowess was supported by Aubrie Gamarra-Cook, Lauren Jauch, and Mia Ramirez, each contributing assists during the game. The team's defense was equally robust with goalkeeper Rachel Wegner keeping a clean sheet, commending her team saying, "We worked with warmer temps (finally) and had a great game!" Additional praise was given to the swing players who compete in both JV and Varsity, showing commendable dedication and stamina by participating extensively across games. Looking ahead, the Thunderbirds' next challenge is against Fort Atkinson on April 24, 2025, back on their home turf at the Flambeau Field at Beryl Neuman Stadium. Currently holding a season record of 4-2, the Thunderbirds seem poised to continue their strong form in the forthcoming games.
