In a challenging outing at the Swiss Kick Quad held on May 17, 2025, the Baraboo High School Thunderbirds Girls Varsity Soccer team faced off against the Sugar River Raiders at New Glarus High School. The match, marked by adverse weather conditions including cool temperatures and strong winds of 28 mph, ended in a 7-1 loss for the Thunderbirds. During the first half, the game saw the Raiders take an early lead, finishing the period ahead with a score of 3-0. The Thunderbirds fought hard to contain their opponents' aggressive play but were unable to find the back of the net. As the game progressed, the weather continued to impact the players' performance, but it was the Sugar River team that adapted better, extending their lead throughout the match. Kennedy Klongland from Baraboo managed to score a goal from a direct free kick, contributing the only goal for her team. Leah Hess, positioned as goalie, faced a hard day at the net with Sugar River's offense pushing strong. Despite their efforts and strategic plays discerned by the coach, the Thunderbirds found it challenging to convert their opportunities into more goals.
