Baraboo Thunderbirds Boys Cross Country Team Competes at River Valley Invitational
The Baraboo Thunderbirds Boys Cross Country team showcased a solid performance at the River Valley Invitational held on September 13, 2025, in Spring Green, WI. Competing in the Boys Varsity Large School category, the Thunderbirds placed 6th out of 20 large school teams, positioning themselves confidently among 42 teams overall. The event drew a wide array of competitors including teams from DeForest, Middleton, Madison West, and many others.
Standout athlete Will Boettcher achieved a notable individual success, placing 9th with an impressive time of 16:47.2. Baraboo's strategic competitiveness was highlighted by the remarkably close timing of their runners; there was merely a 19 second spread between their 2nd and 7th runners, indicating a strong, cohesive team performance. Coach's remarks underscored this tactical achievement, expressing optimism about the group's potential to advance together in future competitions.
Jimmy Martinez, another dedicated athlete from the team, expressed personal satisfaction with breaking the 18-minute barrier, a sentiment that echoes the individual and collective aspirations of the Thunderbirds.
