Baraboo Thunderbirds Clinch Victory Over McFarland in Thrilling Home Softball Game

On a sunny, yet chilly, evening at Pierce Park, the Baraboo High School Thunderbirds secured a 6-3 victory against the McFarland Spartans on April 8, 2025. The game showcased both teams' skills, but ended in favor of the Thunderbirds, much to the delight of the home crowd. The Thunderbirds' lineup featured standout performances that proved crucial in their victory. Zeva Valley, Whitney Crary, Jaime Hansen, and Emma Pichler were pivotal, delivering multiple hits throughout the game. Zeva Valley also contributed significantly with two RBI's, while Macy Weigel, the starting pitcher, along with Taytum Poker, maintained a strong defense, striking out six and limiting the Spartans to just two walks. The critical juncture of the game arrived in the bottom of the 6th inning when the Thunderbirds broke the tie by scoring three runs, setting the stage for a decisive final inning. Taytum Poker, contributing significantly from the circle, made sure to close the game strongly in the top of the 7th, ensuring the Thunderbirds' victory. Looking ahead, the Thunderbirds are set to face the Portage Warriors at Portage High School on Thursday. The team hopes to continue their winning momentum as they approach this next challenge.
