Baraboo Thunderbirds' Madilyn Gilbert Breaks School Cross Country Record
In an exceptional display at the recent Deforest Norski Cross Country Invite, Baraboo Thunderbirds' senior athlete Madilyn Gilbert set a new school record, solidifying her place as a top competitor in the Badger Conference. Gilbert's time of 20:25.00 not only marked a personal career best but also surpassed the previous Baraboo High School record of 20:27.83 set in 2020 by Haylie Weyh. Madilyn Gilbert, who has been a prominent varsity runner throughout her high school years, has shown consistent improvement and dedication. Her performance at the Deforest Norski Invitational, where she placed third overall among 107 participants, was a standout moment early in the season, indicating her readiness for higher achievements. Her coach expressed high praise and excitement following her record-breaking run, emphasizing the hard work she put in over the summer and the potential for the rest of the season. With this new record, Gilbert continues to build on her already impressive career, which started with a notable 1st-team All-Conference performance during her freshman year. The Baraboo community and her teammates look forward to seeing what further accomplishments the seasoned runner will achieve in the upcoming meets of her final high school cross country season.
