Baraboo Thunderbirds Narrowly Defeated by Lake Mills in a Tense Soccer Encounter
The Baraboo High School Thunderbirds faced a challenging away match against the Lake Mills L-Cats on April 17th, 2025. Despite a hard-fought effort by the Thunderbirds, they were narrowly defeated 1-0 in this regular season varsity girls soccer match. The match took place in cool, windy, and overcast conditions at Lake Mills, with both teams locked in a scoreless draw at halftime. The intensity of the competition was evident throughout the game, with Baraboo maintaining strong defense and spirited play. Coach Lang reflected on the team's performance, stating, "We brought great intensity and kept that level throughout the entire match. I thought we did a good job on keeping our heads in what was a physical battle." Unfortunately, Lake Mills managed to secure a goal in the second half, taking the lead and eventually winning the match. This result moves Baraboo's season record to 3-4. Looking ahead, the Thunderbirds will face their rival, the Reedsburg Bevers, at home in Baraboo on April 22nd. This upcoming match offers the Thunderbirds an opportunity to bounce back and potentially improve their season standing. Junior Mallory Olson and senior Reese Olson were highlighted in the match, with their defensive efforts forcing a turnover against Lake Mills, captured in a moment where both are intensely involved in the play.
