Baraboo Thunderbirds Narrowly Defeated in Conference Soccer Match Against Oregon Panthers
On a bright sunny day at Huntoon Field, the Baraboo Thunderbirds boys varsity soccer team faced a challenging conference battle against the Oregon High School Panthers, culminating in a narrow 2-1 defeat on September 16, 2025.
The Thunderbirds entered halftime trailing 2-0, with both goals conceded in the first half. However, immediately after the break, Baraboo's striker Brayden Ferrera-Hunter found the back of the net just 45 seconds into the second half. The crucial goal, assisted by midfielder Colton Klongland, ignited hopes of a comeback.
Despite a rejuvenated offensive effort in the second half, the Thunderbirds were unable to capitalize on further opportunities. Goalkeeper Evan Eilertson made several key saves to keep the scoreline close, but Oregon managed to defend their lead till the final whistle, handing Baraboo a 2-1 loss.
Reflecting on the match, Baraboo's coach remarked on the team's resilience and the hard-fought nature of the game. Looking forward, the Baraboo Thunderbirds are set to host Portage High School on September 18, 2025, at Baraboo High School, aiming to improve their current record of 3 wins and 4 losses overall, with 1 win and 2 losses in the conference.
