Baraboo Thunderbirds Secure 2nd Place at Fall River Tournament
The Baraboo Thunderbirds JV Girls Volleyball team showcased remarkable skill and teamwork at the Fall River Tournament on September 13, 2025, securing a commendable 2nd place in the gold bracket.
The Lady Thunderbirds kicked off the day with triumphs in the morning pool play, securing victories against Mayville and St. Mary's, which propelled them into the gold bracket. Key players emerged early on, with Annie Carroll leading in kills with 13 and blocks with 7, demonstrating her pivotal role in the team's performance. Olivia Webster and Ariahanna Puzek also contributed significantly, with Webster tallying 6 kills and 3 blocks, and Puzek adding 7 kills and 3 blocks.
In the exhilarating bracket play, Baraboo faced a tough match against Fall River, eventually winning in a tight three-set match (14-25, 25-23, 15-13). The team displayed exceptional resilience and strategic gameplay, highlighted by critical digs from Mya Cowling, and effective serving that saw McKenna Mattice, Honore Bavlnka, and Izzy Rockweiler each secure 4 aces. The semifinal against Sheboygan Christian was a challenging matchup that ended in a narrow defeat (25-27, 25-10).
Looking ahead, the Thunderbirds are set to face off against opponents at Monona Grove on September 18, 2025.
