Baraboo Thunderbirds Secure Convincing Victory over Dodgeville

In a riveting display of teamwork and skill, the Baraboo Thunderbirds girls’ varsity basketball team triumphed over the Dodgeville Dodgers with a decisive 62-44 victory on December 29, 2025, at Baraboo High School. The Thunderbirds, led by stellar performances from Madi Gilbert (19), Taylor Sperl (13), and Maddison Litscher (11), showcased a dynamic game packed with strategic plays and strong defensive efforts. From the outset, the Thunderbirds established a competitive edge, concluding the first half with a lead of 29-21. The pivotal moment came at the 11:47 mark of the second half when Baraboo initiated a game-changing 12-0 run. This surge was highlighted by crucial three-pointers from Madi Gilbert and Maddison Litscher, with every point during this phase assisted by teammates Taylor Sperl, Allie Englund, Addy Thompson, and Litscher (2). The team's ability to share the ball effectively emphasized their cooperative spirit and tactical prowess on the court. Key performers for Baraboo included Madi Gilbert, who scored 19 points, and was particularly effective from beyond the arc, hitting several critical three-pointers. Taylor Sperl not only contributed 13 points but also led with 6 assists, orchestrating the offense seamlessly. Meanwhile, Sydney Dobush and Addy Thompson each grabbed 10 rebounds, fortifying Baraboo's defensive stance. With this win, the Thunderbirds improved their season record to 4 wins against 5 losses.
