Baraboo Thunderbirds Skate to Dominant 9-1 Victory Over Stoughton Vikings
In a thrilling display at Pierce Park, the Baraboo/Portage Thunderbirds dominated the Stoughton Vikings with a decisive 9-1 win in their Badger Conference season finale on February 11. The Thunderbirds showcased their offensive prowess and tight defense, leading from the first period and not looking back. Baraboo/Portage came out strong, ending the first period with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Jordi Beale and Nathan Gneiser. The momentum continued into the second period with Colin Mattson and another from Gneiser extending the lead to 4-1. Despite Stoughton's Myles Wineke slipping one past Thunderbirds' goalie Abel Littlegeorge in the second period, it wasn't enough to rally the Vikings. The final period saw the Thunderbirds hammering in five more goals, including two from Beale, ensuring the massive win. Key contributors were Gneiser, who not only scored a hat trick but also provided crucial assists. Beale, highlighted as the player who scored the game-winning goal, also recorded a hat trick of his own.. Aside from their scoring, impressive teamwork was displayed in assists from multiple players like Wade Zemanovic and Brody Bjorklund. Goalie Abel Littlegeorge played an essential role, denying the Vikings any chance to take back the game except for the lone goal by Wineke. The next challenge for the Thunderbirds is a game against Onalaska, set to take place at Pierce Park on Saturday. The Thunderbirds are looking to maintain their strong form and continue their winning ways as they close out the regular season.
