Baraboo Thunderbirds Suffer a Setback Against Sauk Prairie Eagles
On a steamy Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Baraboo High School Thunderbirds faced a challenging regular season soccer confrontation against the Sauk Prairie Eagles at Sauk Prairie High School. Despite the heat, with temperatures reaching 80 degrees and sunny skies, the Thunderbirds, led by their determined goalie Leah Hess, could not secure a win, ending the match with a score of 0-4 in favor of Sauk Prairie. From the outset, the Eagles set a robust pace, establishing a significant 4-0 lead by halftime. The Thunderbirds, despite an ardent defense highlighted by Senior Captain Leah Hess's notable saves, were unable to alter the trajectory of the game. The match concluded with the halftime score unchanged at 0-4, marking a victory for Sauk Prairie. "It was a tale of two halves for this matchup. We lacked communication and intensity in the first half, which led to us being down early. We then made adjustments at halftime and played much better in the second half. Overall, it shows the importance of bringing your best for 80 minutes" remarks Coach Lang. With this result, the Thunderbirds' varsity girls' soccer team's record now stands at 4 wins and 9 losses for the season. Looking ahead, Baraboo High School will host Mount Horeb on May 13, 2025, at their home field. This upcoming encounter offers the Thunderbirds an opportunity to rebound and enhance their season record.
