Baraboo tops Reedsburg 3-1 behind three scorers in rivalry match

Baraboo earned a 3-1 rivalry win over Reedsburg on Thursday night, using a fast start and a long-range finish from Mallory Olson to put the match away. The Thunderbirds struck twice before halftime, then answered Reedsburg's only goal of the night with Olson's late score from deep in the field.

The Thunderbirds set the tone early against the Beavers, playing with noticeable energy before the opening kick and carrying that edge through the match. Baraboo's pressure and organization helped the team control the flow for long stretches, and junior Nina Stout opened the scoring with the first goal of the night.

Baraboo added to the lead before halftime when junior Aubrieanna Gamarra-Cook found the back of the net for the Thunderbirds' second goal. That finish gave Baraboo a 2-0 advantage at the break and rewarded a first half in which the Thunderbirds consistently played together and forced Reedsburg onto the defensive.

Reedsburg cut into the deficit in the second half with its lone goal, briefly creating some pressure as the rivals battled through the final stretch. Baraboo's defense responded by settling the match and limiting further damage, preserving the lead while the Thunderbirds looked for one more decisive chance.

That moment came from Olson, a junior, who drilled Baraboo's third and final goal from deep in the field. The strike restored Baraboo's two-goal cushion and finished off a strong team performance in which Stout, Gamarra-Cook and Olson each delivered a goal in a 3-1 road victory.
