Baraboo Varsity Face Tough Outing Against Reedsburg Beavers in Soccer Conference Match
In a challenging showdown on April 22, 2025, the Baraboo High School Thunderbirds varsity girls’ soccer team faced a tough defeat against the Reedsburg Beavers, ending the game with a score of 1-6 at Flambeau Field within Beryl Neuman Stadium. Despite cold and partly cloudy conditions—with temperatures around 55 degrees—the Thunderbirds could not overcome the Beavers' strong offensive plays. The game started on a challenging note for Baraboo, with Reedsburg firmly leading by three goals to nil by half. Although the second half saw freshman Aubrieanna Gamarra-Cook score her first varsity goal for the Thunderbirds, it was not enough to bridge the gap as their rivals widened the lead, closing the outing with a final score of 6-1 in favor of Reedsburg. Speaking about the game, Coach Tyler Lang underscored the areas needing improvement: "We fought hard throughout the match, but the result showed us the importance of consistent communication and taking care of the ball." The position in goal was manned by Leah Hess, who faced a resilient opponent. Despite this setback, the next opportunity for redemption is right around the corner as Baraboo will once again compete at home against Fort Atkinson on April 24, 2025. The Thunderbirds, with a current season record of 3 wins and 5 losses, seek to improve their standings and face their next challenge with renewed vigor.
