Baseball Thunderbirds Narrowly Lose to Mount Horeb Vikings
The Baraboo Thunderbirds faced a tough away game against the Mount Horeb Vikings on May 27, 2025, at Mount Horeb High School. The game ended in a nail-biting finish with the Thunderbirds narrowly losing to the Vikings with a final score of 6-5. The weather conditions were described as beautiful, providing an ideal setting for what turned out to be a closely contested game. The Thunderbirds had contributions from Peyton Poker, Brody Bjorklund, Ethan Huelsemann, Brady Bauer, and Carter Gross, each of whom played a crucial role in scoring runs for Baraboo. Notably, the same players also contributed with RBIs, showcasing their offensive skills during the match. Starting pitcher Cyrus Mahoney took the mound for Baraboo, setting the tone early in the game. His efforts were supplemented by Owen Rogers, who delivered a strong five innings of relief pitching, managing to keep the game within reach until the very end. Looking ahead, the Thunderbirds are set to meet Sparta at Mary Rountree Evans Park on May 29, 2025. This upcoming game rounds out the regular season for the team. Next week WIAA Regional play opens with the the team traveling to #6 Waunakee on June 3 at 5pm.
