Beaver Dam scored early and added the decisive goal after halftime to slip past Baraboo 2-1 in a conference match Tuesday night.

The Golden Beavers struck first in the opening half, but the Thunderbirds answered before the break in an evenly matched game. Junior Gianna Bates delivered Baraboo's lone goal on an unassisted finish, leveling the match before halftime and giving the Thunderbirds momentum heading into the second half.

Baraboo stayed in the fight throughout the night, matching Beaver Dam's physical play and continuing to pressure for another equalizer after the break. The Thunderbirds' effort kept the match close, but Beaver Dam found the eventual winner in the second half and held on from there.

Co-Head Coach, Ben Oestreich
"Rachel Wegner was tested all night and made some incredible saves to keep the game close. Kyran, Aleah and Shelby did well up front to keep the pressure on and finding their midfield supporters. It was good to see Giana find the back of the net after missing all of last week."

Bates provided the top individual moment for Baraboo, capitalizing on her own chance for the team's only score. The Thunderbirds also showed resilience after falling behind early, responding before halftime and battling through the final whistle in a game that remained tight from start to finish.

Although the result went Beaver Dam's way, Baraboo's response after the early deficit and its work rate across the full 80 minutes gave the Thunderbirds a solid foundation coming out of a competitive conference road match.
