Boys Cross Country Team Competes at Verona Invitational

The Baraboo Thunderbirds Boys Cross Country team showcased strong performances at the Verona Invitational held on September 6, 2025, at Verona High School. Competing in the Boys Varsity Combined category, the Thunderbirds secured an 8th place finish out of 35 teams overall and an impressive 2nd place among 10 teams in their division. Key performances were noted as several Baraboo runners completed the course with commendable times. Ben Meise led the Thunderbirds with a time of 18:03.1 closely followed by Dylan Davies at 18:03.3, Oskar LaFave with 18:05.5, Jimmy Martinez at 18:09.1, Jack Brinker finishing at 18:17.5, and Kilian Duncan at 18:20.0. Additionally, Joe Korthals earned a medal in the JV race completing the course in 18:53. On the girls' side, Madi Gilbert earned a varsity medal with a time of 20:43. The team's top runner, Will Boettcher, achieved a notable 34th place with a time of 17:15.1 in a highly competitive field. The team's coach expressed pride in the team's performance stating, "7 guys under 18:30 is a great accomplishment. It won't be long and we'll have 7 guys in the 17s," indicating strong prospects for future improvement. Looking ahead, the Baraboo Thunderbirds are set to compete next at the River Valley Invitational on September 13, 2025, at the Spring Green Municipal Golf Course in Spring Green, WI.
