Jake Boll | Baraboo | Sep 1, 2025

The Baraboo Thunderbirds Boys Cross Country team competed at the 29th Glenn Herold Invitational on August 30, 2025, at Watertown High School, showcasing their talents among some of the top teams from across the state. Baraboo placed 8th overall in a highly competitive field, scoring 176 points. The team was led by standout performances from Will Boettcher, Dylan Davies, and Jonatan Martinez. Boettcher, finishing 14th with a time of 17:44.20, set a strong pace of 5:42, earning him a medal and tops for his team. Davies and Martinez also placed well, coming in 39th and 40th respectively, each clocking a pace of 6:01. Not far behind were teammates Kilian Duncan (46th) and Ben Meise (55th). Depth was added to the varsity squad with Jack Brinker (66th) and Joe Korthals (71st). During the early stages of the race, the Thunderbirds set a brisk pace, with Boettcher, Davies, and Kilian leading the way. Coach Boll highlighted the team's performance, noting the squad's improved average time from the previous year and a tight 13-second spread between the team's second and fifth runners. He emphasized the potential for improvement by reducing the gap between the team's lead runner and the rest of the varsity group. The team now looks forward to their next event, the Norski Invite, hosted by DeForest at the Windsor Sports Complex on September 3, 2025. It will be another opportunity for the Thunderbirds to test their mettle and continue building on their early season successes.
