Girls Basketball Triumphant in Coach Litscher's Debut

On an exciting night of basketball, the Baraboo Thunderbirds secured a commanding victory over the Portage Warriors on November 25, 2025. The game took place at Baraboo High School, marking a successful start to the season for the Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds exhibited a strong offensive and defensive strategy from the start, leading to a significant halftime lead of 36-16. Top scorer Sara Tews delivered an impressive 26 points and led the rebounding with 15 rebounds, while Sydney Dobush and Madilyn Gilbert contributed importantly with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Maddison Litscher facilitated the team's offense magnificently, providing 11 assists and clinching 3 steals. The second half saw the Thunderbirds solidifying their lead, eventually closing the game with a resounding score of 75-32. Notably, Sara Tews also contributed defensively with 4 blocks. The outcome not only displayed the team's well-rounded capabilities but also set a positive tone for the season. Coach Litscher praised the team’s performance, emphasizing a simple yet effective approach to the game: 'The goal for this game was simple, play hard. I think the girls did that and introduced the community to what our program will be about moving forward. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the girls!'
