Lake Mills broke open the match with a three-goal swing around halftime and held off Baraboo for a 7-3 win Tuesday at Baraboo High School. The Thunderbirds struck first on a penalty kick from #18 Maya Ferrera-Hunter, but Lake Mills answered with three first-half goals and added four more after the break.

Baraboo’s best early moment came in the opening half, when #18 Maya Ferrera-Hunter converted a PK to put the Thunderbirds on the board. That early breakthrough gave Baraboo a lift, but Lake Mills found the net three times before halftime to take control. Even with the deficit, the Thunderbirds continued to press and created chances rather than letting the match slip away.

The Thunderbirds showed that resolve in the second half. #17 Violet Maguire connected for Baraboo’s second goal of the night, trimming the margin and rewarding a stronger attacking stretch. Later, #17 Violet Maguire put another shot on frame, and after the attempt was not finished cleanly, #3 Nina Stout followed the play and scored on the rebound for Baraboo’s third goal.

Those second-half goals reflected a better response from Baraboo, which kept working to generate offense even as Lake Mills continued to convert its own opportunities. Lake Mills matched that push with four second-half goals, preventing the Thunderbirds from making a deeper rally. Baraboo still produced multiple dangerous moments in the final 40 minutes, led by the finishing of #17 Violet Maguire and the quick reaction from #3 Nina Stout in front of goal.

In all, Baraboo got goals from #18 Maya Ferrera-Hunter, #17 Violet Maguire and #3 Nina Stout, with the opening penalty kick and the late rebound finish standing out as key moments in the attack. The Thunderbirds will look to carry that second-half fight into their next match, a road game at Janesville Parker on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 7:00 PM CDT.
